Our bespoke service is a great way for artists to start selling their work on different products, and we've been lucky enough to work with a very talented bunch this year. This week we're shining a spotlight on Caroline Robertson, one of our bespoke artists who's vibrant animal designs have been a hit in her local area.
Caroline is a primary school teacher in Aberdeen, who was inspired by her students to get back into painting:
" I started painting again for myself after one of my students told me that she wanted to be an artist just like me! I felt I couldn't let her down so I created my first painting in a few years...the sleeping cat. My friend saw it and asked if she could get a print as a present for someone and she gave me the confidence which inspired me to paint more and create products from my artwork."
Caroline soon discovered a demand for her prints, and ha recently created an online etsy shop so she could start selling them. Her work is also stocked in several local businesses, including Buchanan's Bistro in Banchory, Aiton Fine Arts in Crieff, Finzean Farm Shop and Brakeley Gift Room in Ballater.
Caroline paints on board or canvas using acrylic; partly as she has young children in the house and she finds acrylics are easier - and less messy!
She explained how she'd found using the bespoke service:

They do all the cropping and tweaking of the artwork to fit the products which is brilliant and then I get to approve it and make changes if I wish to. It all came fairly quickly and well packaged. I particularly like that the mugs came in individual boxes which I can re-use to post out to my customers and the love heart sweeties were a cute touch - my daughters pounced on those!"
